Everyone agreed - PILC’s Second Annual “Back to the Oldies Sock Hop” was simply a blast!

On July 12, friends and volunteers gathered at the Sunset Center Art Gallery to help raise funds for people with disabilities. Guests, including many PILC consumers, enjoyed great food, exciting contests and fantastic tunes by Fast Freddy and the Fairlanes. Costume and dance contests added more nostalgia along with people of all ages showing off their Hula Hoop skills. Masters of Ceremonies and DJs Chris Albracht and Kyle Arrant were among headliners who also livened the event with some “shake, rattle and roll.”

The benefit raised ($8,100) including proceeds from a live auction of donated prizes conducted by Keith Waters. Major benefactors included The Second Chance Foundation, Plains Dairy, Wilson Haag & Company, Amarillo National Bank, and Ann Crouch who donated the use of the Sunset Center Art Gallery.

Funds from the benefit enable the Center to assist people with disabilities who encounter unexpected emergency expenses during the year. The Sock Hop also raised community awareness of independent living programs and the many services provided by Panhandle Independent Living Center.
