Mission & Philosophy

PILC's Mission Statement

PILC is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of full participation of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of life. As a consumer driven organization, PILC services are developed, directed, delivered, and governed primarily by individuals with disabilities. PILC's goals are to empower individuals with disabilities to become viable parts of their community, and to make the community and society aware and sensitive of individuals with disabilities.

PILC's Philosophy

Individuals with disabilities:

  • are the best judges of their own interests, not professionals. they should ultimately determine how services are organized on their behalf.
  • must rely primarily on their own resources and ingenuity to acquire the rights and benefits to which they are entitled.
  • are entitled to participate to the fullest extent possible in the economic and political life in the community.
